The N.C. State Fairgrounds is easily accessible from the I-440 Beltline, Interstate 40, as well as from Blue Ridge Road, N.C. Highway 54 (Hillsborough Street) and now Edwards Mill Road (see directions below). Free parking is available on State Fair and Carter-Finley Football Stadium property for events scheduled at the Fairgrounds, except for recreational vehicles that park between the hours of midnight and 8:00 a.m.

The North Carolina State Fairgrounds offers 12 gate entrances during peak grounds activities; however, only Gate 11 is accessible after scheduled event hours. Fairgrounds Public Safety can be contacted nights and weekends at 919-612-6767 for after hours assistance.

*From Edwards Mill Road, you will pass the Arena/Stadium Complex on the left. Proceed to the intersection of Edwards Mill and Trinity Road. Take a left at the stoplight onto Trinity Road. The State Fairgrounds Horse Complex and Gate 9 can be accessed from Trinity Road. Additional Gates can be accessed by turning right onto Youth Center Road or Blue Ridge Road, and then from Hillsborough Street.

From I-40/Wade Avenue, if you miss Edwards Mill Road, you can take the next exit, Blue Ridge Road. Take a right at top of ramp. The fairgrounds is located at the intersection of Blue Ridge and Trinity Road (second light from exit ramp). Hunt Horse Complex and Gate 9 are located off Trinity Road, Gates 10 and 11 from Blue Ridge Road, Gates 12, 1, and 2 are from Hillsborough Street, Gates 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 are from Youth Center (connector road between Trinity and Hillsborough).

The Administration Building which houses State Fairgrounds Administrative Offices and Public Safety is located inside Gate 11 on Blue Ridge Road (near the intersection of Blue Ridge and Hillsborough Streets).

The North Carolina State Fairgrounds Flea Market operates November through September and is housed in the Commercial & Education Building (adjacent to Hillsborough Street) and the surrounding paved grounds with immediate access through Gates 11, 1 and 2. The Flea Market Office is located inside the Commercial & Education Building.

The Governor Kerr Scott Building is adjacent to Blue Ridge Road, and is best accessed through Gates 11 or 10 from Blue Ridge.

J.S. Dorton Arena is adjacent to Hillsborough Street, and is best accessed through Gate 2 from Hillsborough Street or Gate 9 from Trinity Road.

The Jim Graham Building is adjacent to Hillsborough Street, and is best accessed through Gate 2 from Hillsborough Street, Gates 4 or 5 from Youth Center Road, or Gate 9 from Trinity Road.

The Exposition Center is adjacent to the Jim Graham Building and best accessed through Gate 2 from Hillsborough Street, Gate 11 from Blue Ridge Road, or Gate 9 from Trinity Road.

The Martin Building is located inside the Fairgrounds, and can be accessed from any open gates into the State Fairgrounds - best accessed from Gate 9 (Turn from Blue Ridge Road onto Trinity Road – after entering Gate 9, the rear of Martin Building will be straight ahead with parking around the front.

Governor James Holshouser Building, Sam Rand Grandstand, Pitzer Heritage Circle, and the Greenhouse are located inside the Fairgrounds, and can be accessed from any open gates into the State Fairgrounds - best accessed from Gate 9 (Turn from Blue Ridge Road onto Trinity Road – after entering Gate 9, follow paved street to right – the Holshouser Building will be on right – Heritage Circle and the Greenhouse are located on the West side of Holshouser. Rand Grandstand infield access for parking is immediately inside Gate 9 - spectator admission entrance is East of Holshouser.)

The L.R. Harrill Youth Center is located on Youth Center Road and is best access through Gate 6.

The James B. Hunt, Jr. Horse Complex is located on Trinity Road at the intersection of Trinity and Youth Center Roads and has 7 gates. Primary access is from Trinity Road through Gate H3 (Indoor Arena, Dining Hall and Administrative offices are located to the left and stables, barns and outdoor rings to the right – also accessible through Gate H4 from Trinity or Gate H7 from Youth Center Road)

Recreational Vehicle hookup access on the main Fairgrounds is available through Gate 11 or at the Hunt Horse Complex through Gate H3. Contact Fairgrounds Public Safety (mobile 919-612-6767) for camper hook-up access.

FAIRGROUNDS GATE ACCESS:

Gates 11 and 10 entrances are on Blue Ridge Road
Travel from Blue Ridge Road turn onto Trinity Road and enter through Gate 9.
May also continue on Trinity Road and turn at the James B. Hunt, Jr. Horse Complex onto Youth Center Road (enter through Gates 8, 6, 5, or 4Gate 7 is an interior gate).
Gate 1, 2 and 12 entrances are from Hillsborough Street.
Horse Complex Gates H3 and H4 entrances are from Trinity Road. Gates H7 and H1 are from Youth Center Road. Gates H2, H5 and H6 are horse complex interior grounds gates.
