The Flea Market is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday this month except the weekend of Sept. 29-30. The first four weekends in September, the Commercial and Education buildings and the outside grounds are host to hundreds of dealers, craftsmen, and booths. The Flea Market will close Sunday, Sept. 23, in preparation of the annual State Fair and reopen on Saturday, Nov. 3.

Equestrian Exchange Consignment Sale
Equestrian Exchange Tack Consignment Sale offers the opportunity to buy and consign anything related to the equestrian sport. All riding disciplines represented for all levels of experience. Saddles, tack, riding clothing, boots, bits, blankets, carts, jewelry, art, helmets and more. Volunteer 8 hours and shop prior to public shopping. Receiving dates: (drop off your items) are August 28 from 6-9 for 100+ consignment items or Wednesday 829from 10 am - 9 pm; Pick-up unsold items Tuesday 9/4:from 4 - 8 pm (this is a no shopping day) or Wednesday 9/5 from 10 am - 2 pm. (this is a no shopping day) .

Thursday 8/31 Volunteers Shop 10 am - 9 pm and Consignors shop 1 pm - 9 pm.; Also Volunteers may shop on Monday 9/3 from 8 am - 5 pm and Consignors from 9 am - 5 pm.

OPEN TO PUBLIC for Preview Sale Thursday Aug.30 from 5-9 pm with $7 Admission. FREE Admission on Friday thru Sunday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday - Sept. 3 from 10 am - 5 pm.

8/31-9/3 Kennel Club Dog Shows-Tarheel Labor Day Cluster
AKC (American Kennel Club) registered dogs will compete each day for points leading to championships, as well as dog obedience trials for degrees and obedience championship points.  Championship all breed dog show, obedience and rally trials - a different Kennel Club hosts competitions each day. The schedule is: Friday, Alamance Kennel Club; Saturday, Durham Kennel Club; Sunday, Raleigh Kennel Club, and Monday, Cary Kennel Club. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday is $5.00 for adults, $2.00 for senior adults and children 7-11 years of age. Free admission with military ID and for children under 7 years of age.

8/31-9/3 Treasures of the Earth Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show
Show includes 14K gold and sterling silver jewelry, gem stones, pearls, fashion and estate jewelry, beads, findings, minerals, crystals, and fossils. Jewelers on site to repair, design or set stones and wire wrappers. Admission: Adults $4 - under 16 admitted free. Carolina Roller Derby
Carolina Rollergirls brings back the fierce competition of flat-track roller derby in their 2012 season with a Double-header event.

Doors open at 2:30 p.m. - Game 1 starts at 3:00 pm with two home teams going head to head in a continuation Carolina Roller Derby's oldest rivalry. Game 2 begins at 5:00 pm with the Carolina All-Stars facing off with another league from across the United States! 2 games for one low price. Buy in advance for ticket discounts, or purchase on game day at the Dorton Arena Box Office. .All seats are general admission. A family friendly sporting event!

1-2 The Carolina Reptile & Exotic Animal Show
National breeders and manufacturers selling reptiles, birds and mammals along with cages, food and supplies, and live animal shows and seminars on animal breeding and care.

Promoted by the country's oldest gourd society, the 71th Annual North Carolina Gourd Arts & Crafts Festival features a variety of growing, crafting, and artistic competitive categories as well as gourd workshops and vendors of gourd crafts, dried gourds, seeds, books, and gourd crafting supplies The Festival also features a live auction at noon on Saturday. 15 N.C. State CALS Alumni and Friends Tailgate Party
Activities include live bluegrass band, hands-on exhibits related to agriculture and the life sciences, children’s area, the NC State Pep Band and displays from college departments, related organizations and student clubs. An auction will be held to benefit student scholarships. All-you-can eat buffet with shrimp, chicken, barbecue, and the fixin’s. Tailgate begins at 1pm, and ends at 5pm, with a 6pm kickoff. Open to the general public, this festival offers both entertainment and education with a variety of social, commercial and spiritual activities. Attendees are welcome to join or observe rituals, attend workshops, meet with a variety of local groups, and much more, all in a festival environment full of vendors, music, and fun. Antique guns, U.S. and foreign military arms and memorabilia exhibited, bought, sold, and traded - WWI, WWII, Civil War, and other conflicts. Also includes relics, books, uniforms and insignias. 15-16 DogGoneFast Flyball Club Flyball Tournament 
Flyball is a fast-paced family-oriented dog sport that has become a hit on Animal Planet and ESPN's Great Outdoor Games. Dogs and people alike go wild over this relay race with 4 dogs per team. Each dog jumps 4 hurdles and steps on a spring loaded box, which shoots out a tennis ball. The dog catches the ball and runs back over the 4 hurdles. When the dog crosses the starting line the next dog goes. The first team to have all 4 dogs run without errors wins the heat. Sat. 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Free admission.

22 AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day
Fun and educational activities for all dog lovers, including the ever popular "Meet the Breeds" (over 50 different AKC breeds), Canine Good Citizen Tests (CGC) available ($5 each), agility, obedience, and flyball demonstrations, as well as fun activities for all participants. AKC Companion Animal Recovery will offer Micro-chip Clinic. Dog-related vendors, free games, contests and giveaways - free goodie bags to the first 500 attendees.

Hunter Jumper Horse Show -Friday through Sunday. Daily show begins at 8:00 am. These shows are hunter horse shows with most of the competitors being from North Carolina. NCHJA "C" Rated Show to be held in 3 rings outdoors. Free spectator admission.
