The Flea Market is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday this month except the weekend of Sept. 29-30. The first four weekends in September, the Commercial and Education buildings and the outside grounds are host to hundreds of dealers, craftsmen, and booths. The Flea Market will close Sunday, Sept. 23, in preparation of the annual State Fair and reopen on Saturday, Nov. 3.

8/31-9/3 Kennel Club Dog Shows-Tarheel Labor Day Cluster
AKC (American Kennel Club) registered dogs will compete each day for points leading to championships, as well as dog obedience trials for degrees and obedience championship points.  Championship all breed dog show, obedience and rally trials - a different Kennel Club hosts competitions each day. The schedule is: Friday, Alamance Kennel Club; Saturday, Durham Kennel Club; Sunday, Raleigh Kennel Club, and Monday, Cary Kennel Club. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday is $5.00 for adults, $2.00 for senior adults and children 7-11 years of age. Carolina Roller Derby
Carolina Rollergirls brings back the fierce competition of flat-track roller derby in their 2012 season with a Double-header event.

Doors open at 2:30 p.m. - Game 1 starts at 3:00 pm with two home teams going head to head in a continuation Carolina Roller Derby's oldest rivalry. Game 2 begins at 5:00 pm with the Carolina All-Stars facing off with another league from across the United States! 2 games for one low price. Activities include live bluegrass band, hands-on exhibits related to agriculture and the life sciences, children’s area, the NC State Pep Band and displays from college departments, related organizations and student clubs. Flyball is a fast-paced family-oriented dog sport that has become a hit on Animal Planet and ESPN's Great Outdoor Games. Dogs and people alike go wild over this relay race with 4 dogs per team. Each dog jumps 4 hurdles and steps on a spring loaded box, which shoots out a tennis ball. The dog catches the ball and runs back over the 4 hurdles. When the dog crosses the starting line the next dog goes. The first team to have all 4 dogs run without errors wins the heat. Sat. 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Free admission.
