8/28- 9/1 Kennel Club Dog Shows
AKC (American Kennel Club) registered dogs will compete each day for points leading to championships, as well as dog obedience trials for degrees and obedience championship points.  Championship all breed dog show, obedience and rally trials - a different Kennel Club hosts competitions each day. The schedule is: Thursday, Cary Kennel Club; Friday, Alamance Kennel Club; Saturday, Durham Kennel Club; Sunday, Salisbury Kennel Club, and Monday, Raleigh Kennel Club. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission for Monday is $5.00 for adults, $2.00 for senior adults and children 7-12 years of age. wwwraleighkennelclub.org

Equestrian Exchange Consignment Sale
Equestrian Exchange Consignment Sale offers the opportunity to buy and consign unwanted horse-related items, saddles and tack, show atttire and barn supplies. Items accepted from and offered to all disciplines of riding and all levels of riding. Closeouts from tack stores, items from barn closings and openings, all disciplines equipment for showing and training, trail riding, driving and much more. Everything related to the equestrian sport is encouraged for consignment (Consignors must be pre-registered).

6 N.C. State CALS Alumni and Friends Tailgate Party
Activities include live bluegrass band, hands-on exhibits related to agriculture and the life sciences, childrens area and a magician. Displays from college departments, related organizations and student clubs. An auction will be held to benefit student scholoarships. All you can eat buffet with shrimp, fish, chicken and barbecue. Time of tailgate is determined by kickoff time - check back 10 days before the event. Admission is $14 for adults, $7 for ages 3 to 10 and free for 2 and under. www.cals.ncsu.edu

6-7 La Fiesta del Pueblo
Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, El Pueblo presents the largest Latin American cultural event in the Carolinas. The 2008 festival moves to a new indoor location at the State Fairgrounds with more than 150,000 SF of climate controlled space. Designed to provide an opportunity for cultural interchanges, event activities include two food courts with more than 30 vendors offering cuisine from Latin America; Employment, Health, & Education Fairs in Spanish and English; 3 stages featuring continuous music performances; a dance stage; cultural exhibits and Nindandia's Children's Carnival with special guests Remi the Puerto Rican clown, Harry the Dragon, and Ronald McDonald. This community outreach and education event includes the opportunity to register to vote. 6-7 Gourd Arts & Craft Festival
Promoted by the country's oldest gourd society, the 67th Annual North Carolina Gourd Arts & Crafts Festival features more than 80 growing, crafting, and artistic competitive categories, as well as workshops and vendors of gourd crafts, dried gourds, and gourd crafting supplies. This event features arts and craft and gourd vendor displays offering sales of gourds, gourd craft and gourd art and has a free hands-on ground crafting table for children as well as many gourd-u-cation stations and displays of historic and cultural use of gourds. 3rd annual Masonic Carolina Pig-Jig BBQ Cook-off. Flyball is a fast-paced family-oriented dog sport that has become a hit on Animal Planet and ESPN's Great Outdoor Games. Dogs and people alike go wild over this relay race with 4 dogs per team. Each dog jumps 4 hurdles and steps on a spring loaded box, which shoots out a tennis ball. The dog catches the ball and runs back over the 4 hurdles. When the dog crosses the starting line the next dog goes. The first team to have all 4 dogs run without errors wins the heat.
