The Flea Market reopens on Saturday, Nov. 8 and is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. Each weekend, the Commercial and Education buildings, the Shoppes at Dorton and the outside grounds are host to hundreds of dealers, craftsmen, and booths. The Flea Market will be open regular hours on Thanksgiving weekend, but will NOT be open Friday, Nov. 29..

Watch Olympic style show jumping at the 'JUMP FOR THE CHILDREN' HORSE SHOW, benefiting Duke Children's Hospital in Durham, NC. The horse show offers U.S. Equestrian Federation "AA" rated hunter and show jumping competition each day. Show Highlights:

6 Alzheimers North Carolina, Inc. "Candlelight Reflections"
This is a State-wide event. The candle lighting ceremony remembers those we have lost and honors families and friends taking on the role of caregiver and/or living with Alzheimer's Disease or other dementia. Join us in honor of National and North Carolina Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month and Family Caregiver Month. Event will begin at 6:30 with the ceremony at 7 pm on Thursday, November 6.  Admission is free.  www.alznc.org

7-8 Capital Area Handbell Festival
This festival will include over 400 handbell ringers from several States who will join together to ring and learn from a nationally-known handbell clinician. The festival is produced and run by The Raleigh Ringers - registration fee is required for festival participants. Friday night hours are 6 - 10 pm and includes a 3 hour workshop followed by a workshop Saturday from 9 am - 5 pm. All ringer groups will be ringing together in a final massed concert on Saturday at 4pm. The final concert at 4pm is open to the public and free admission.Canned goods are also being collected for Food Bank of Central Eastern North Carolina..

Southern Showdown
Athletic Crossfit competition of the South. The 2014 Southern Showdown is here! This is the first major offsite Xfit competition in central North Carolina. A professional indoor/outdoor venue, top athletes, intense competition and a $9,000 cash purse guarantees an unforgettable event. The Southern Showdown is a 2 DAY event that will be held at the historic North Carolina State Fair Grounds. The workouts will be varied and will push individuals and teams to the limit.
