Returning for 2018, visitors to the N.C. State Fair will be able to purchase flights of beer and wine to sample. The beverages will be available in theOur StatePublic House in Heritage Circle. Sponsored byOur Statemagazine, the Public House will showcase dozens of breweries, wineries, and cideries from across North Carolina. Daily offerings will include several different styles of craft beer, wine, and cider, including award-winning examples of each.

Patrons of theOur StatePublic House will be able to choose from two servings of wine, cider, or beer. Wine servings are 3 ounces each, and each beer or cider sample will be 8 ounces. Tickets cost $10 each and will be sold from noon to 10 p.m. There is a limit of one ticket per person. IDs will be checked at the door.

This popular attraction is a partnership with the N.C. Craft Brewers Guild and the N.C. Wine and Grape Council. The Guild will use a portion of the proceeds for research and marketing benefiting North Carolina’s craft beer industry. North Carolina is home to 280 craft breweries and 185 wineries.

  • Sweet Red & Rosé wines featuring juicy palate pleasers.
  • Dry Red & Rosé wines for cool fall days.
  • White wines ranging from dry to sweet.
  • Creative ciders made from North Carolina apples.


Beer selections:

  • Light: Crisp, easy-drinking beers including Pilsners and Oktoberfest.
  • Dark: Full-bodied, sweeter beers ranging from amber to brown.
  • Hoppy: Pale ales and IPAs showcasing hop flavor and aroma.

Got to Be NC Wine and Craft Beer


The Got to Be NC Wine and Craft Beer exhibit is located in the Hunt Horse Arena outside Gate 8. The exhibit is open from 2 until 8 p.m. daily. The exhibit will open at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11.

Wine and beer are available for sampling and bottle purchase only. Wine or beer by the glass will not be available (per state law). Wine or beer that is purchased cannot be taken into the main fairgrounds gates. Beer/wine will need to be taken directly off the premises or picked up later. Fairgoers can hold purchases at the Hunt Arena until 8 p.m., or plan to pick it up at Gate 1 on the hour between 3 and 8 p.m. Fairgoers will be given a phone number in case they need to change the pickup time or location. Wines/beers that are not picked up at the scheduled time will be taken back to Hunt Horse Arena and it will stay there unless you call and reschedule a drop off time.
