Monday, Oct. 17 - Michael's Day

presented by OneMain Financial

One of the best days of the year! Michael's Day is a partnership with OneMain Financial and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Carolina.

Michael Breuer was an avid N.C. State Fair fan who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at the age of four. After a long brave battle, Michael passed away in October 2014 when he was seven. We celebrate Michael’s Day with Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Carolina by hosting families fighting childhood diseases with an all-expenses paid, memory-packed day at the Fair.

At the end of the day, we hope we have created a special time in these families’ lives...a time where sickness is forgotten, and families are reconnected.

Thursday, Oct. 20 - Food Lion Hunger Relief Day

Fairgoers can bring five cans of Food Lion brand food to the N.C. State Fair on Thursday, Oct. 20, to exchange for one free admission ticket.

Food Lion Hunger Relief Day at the Fair is one of the largest one-day canned-food drives in the state, held each year to benefit the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Since 1993, more than 4.4 million pounds of food have been donated by fairgoers.

The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina will distribute the cans to needy people and hunger-relief agencies in a 34-county area surrounding Raleigh, as well as with Second Harvest Food Banks in other regions, such as Fayetteville, Winston-Salem and Elizabeth City.

Food Bank volunteers and employees of Food Lion and the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services will exchange cans for Fair tickets.
