The State Fair can be a busy place on the weekends, so youth and school groups are encouraged to attend the fair on Monday, October 17. Special admission packages are available for groups of 40 or more people, if purchased before Oct. 13.

10 a.m.: Girl Scouts 100th Anniversary Event with guest speakers | Kitchen Craft Waterfall Stage | |

1 p.m.: Be Early Beeline kazoo symphony. Participate in a kazoo version of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumblebee.” | Kitchen Craft Waterfall Stage | |

All Day: N.C. State Parks "fishing" activity and turtle obstacle course, | Waterfall area | |

All Day: Girl Scouts activity tent with stickers, patches, literature and book marks | Waterfall area | |

All Day: NCDENR's Recycle Guys mascots, recycling activity books, temporary tattoos, key chains, pencils. Games, recycling pledge activity | Waterfall area | |

All Day: Wildlife-related activities designed to educate and entertain. Pellet gun range and harvest report, perform a dove survey, determine the age of bears by teeth and fish by scales or otoliths, decide which water is the cleanest by looking through bathyscopes at the diversity of fish, mullosks and macroinverts in the water and more. Regular admission applies on Youth Day, but there are several ways to save on advance tickets:

Children age 13 & older: $6 in advance, $8 at the gate | |||||||||

Children age 6-12: $2 in advance, $3 at the gate | |||||||||

Children age 5 & younger: Free | |||||||||
• |
Groups of 40 or more people: $5 per ticket | |||||||||

Early Bird Special: Earn up to three free admission tickets based on the total purchase amount of admission, ride, grandstand and Dorton Arena concert tickets before convenience fees. The Early Bird Special runs Aug. 1 through Sept. 28 and is good for online sales only. | |||||||||
