Retired auctioneers, buyers and warehousemen will demonstrate the way tobacco used to be sold in North Carolina. Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler and Sen. Kay Hagan will make brief remarks. |

For more than 150 years, North Carolina farmers sold tobacco at auctions. Today, auctions have been replaced by direct contracts with tobacco companies.
Duke Homestead is coordinating the event. |
