N.C. State Fair offers free admission for food donation
during annual Food Lion Hunger Relief Day

WHAT:   Hunger Relief Day is the N.C. State Fair’s annual food drive. Fairgoers can bring four cans of food to receive free admission to the Fair during Food Lion Hunger Relief Day.
WHO: Representatives from Food Lion, the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and the N.C. State Fair will be at all main gates collecting cans.
WHERE:  All gates, except 2A, 4, 5 and the Hunt Horse Arena Complex entrance.
WHEN:   Thursday, Oct. 22
WHY:  Over the past 14 years, more than 2 million pounds of food have been donated to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. The organization distributes food to needy people and hunger-relief agencies in the 34-county area surrounding Raleigh. With the area’s increasing need for non-perishable food items, the N.C. State Fair has set a goal to collect 200,000 pounds of food this year.
