State Fair to honor military families Wednesday, Oct. 22

RALEIGH – The N.C. State Fair will host Military Appreciation Day on Wednesday, Oct. 22, to honor members of the U.S. armed forces for their service and to showcase music by military bands.

Active duty, reserve and National Guard service members or spouses with valid military ID will be admitted free along with four guests.

“This is the third annual Military Appreciation Day at the State Fair, and it is a pleasure to again honor members of our military with free admission,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “I hope military families will mark their calendars and join us as we celebrate their service to the country.”

The following free concerts are scheduled on the Kitchen Craft Waterfall Stage:

  • 9 a.m. – Liberty Brass of the 440th Army Band;
  • 10:30 a.m. – Hickabillies (Army National Guard);
  • Noon – 82nd Airborne Chorus;
  • 4 p.m. – Navy Four Star Edition.

The N.C. State Fair takes place Oct. 16-26 at the State Fairgrounds. For more information, visit www.ncstatefair.org.
