Subway, N.C. State Fair launch Seriously Twisted Sub contest; winner gets free subs, NASCAR tickets

Jared Fogle, the Subway Guy, to announce winner Oct. 16 during State Fair

RALEIGH – Fans of the sub sandwich will have the chance to show their creativity during the Seriously Twisted Sub contest sponsored by Subway and the N.C. State Fair.

The winner will receive Subway sandwiches for a year and tickets to the Subway 500 in Martinsville, Va.

“Food is a big part of the State Fair, so this contest is a natural fit,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “The sub sandwich is as American as, well, state fairs, so I’m looking forward to this opportunity to bring these classics together. And as someone who loves to eat, I’m looking forward to tasting some of these creative sandwiches.”

Jared Fogle, the Subway Guy, will host the tasting and announce the winner at the State Fair on Twisted Tuesday, Oct. 16. The event will take place at 2 p.m., prior to the Keith King Bicycle Stunt Show in the Sam Rand Grandstand.

“I’m excited to be emceeing the Seriously Twisted Sub contest at this year’s fair,” Fogle said. “Of all the fairs I’ve been to, the North Carolina State Fair is one of the nicest. There is no finer place to be than North Carolina in the fall.”

To enter the contest, go to www.ncstatefair.org and click on the Seriously Twisted Sub icon. Go to the contest page to create your own seriously twisted sub using a list of ingredients available at Subway shops. Give your sub an appropriate name and submit your entry. There is no charge to enter. Complete details and rules are available on the Web site.

Subway franchise owners will narrow the field to five finalists, who will be invited to meet Fogle at the State Fair and watch as judges taste and review the contestants’ creations.
